On Monday, November 12, in commemoration of Veterans Day, Thayer Leader Development Group once again partnered with Nasdaq to recognize public and private companies that lead the nation in supporting active duty military members, veterans, and their families. In honor of the occasion, TLDG staff member and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Becky Saxe sang the National Anthem and Lieutenant General Darryl Williams, 60th Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, rang the Opening Bell at Nasdaq MarketSite. TLDG faculty member MG (Ret.) Robert Ivany, Ph.D., launched an article in partnership with Chief Executive magazine about how CEOs and their companies are embracing the AAR and the superb benefits as a result. In the 1980s, the 200-year-old U.S. Army embarked on a rebuilding effort to change its culture, with widespread changes in doctrine, tactics, leader development and training. In order to reap the benefits of a far more demanding training regime and the investment of considerable human and material resources, they instituted an innovative method of learning: The After-Action Review (AAR), which has since been incorporated into many companies such as Nestle USA, Stryker Global Services, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Morgan Stanley, and Pratt & Whitney.
