Focused on Supporting and Developing Veterans

WEST POINT, NY, Sept. 1, 2016 (BUSINESS WIRE) – The Thayer Leader Development Group at West Point (TLDG) is leading an extraordinary Veterans’ Initiatives program, which kicked off this week with a special supplement of the September issue of TD Magazine. In partnership with the Association for Talent Development (ATD), this publication shares best practices from 16 organizations that are trailblazers in recruiting, developing, and supporting veterans and active duty military. ATD partnered with TLDG to recognize the work of leading organizations that are committed to utilizing the unique skill sets of veterans and helping them transition to meaningful work outside the military as well as honoring and supporting active duty, National Guard, Reserves, and veterans.

This publication shines the spotlight on best practices from ADP, EMCOR, EY, FedEx, Hilton Worldwide, IAP, Iron Sword Enterprises, Mercedes-Benz USA, Office Depot, PenFed Credit Union, 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Synchrony Financial, University of Phoenix, Wyndham Worldwide, and Xerox.

This special issue is available at beginning on September 1, 2016, in honor of Labor Day. Labor Day honors the American worker, and is the ideal time to launch a Veterans’ Initiative to support veterans in our workforce.  

TLDG is also requesting every organization in the United States consider posting their own Veterans’ Initiatives program on their website between now and Veterans Day, November 11, 2016, following the example of the 16 companies featured in TD Magazine. TLDG hopes other veterans support organizations will join in the challenge, challenging every CEO in the country to post their Veterans’ Initiatives. This year marks the 15th anniversary of 9/11 and also the anniversary of the start of the longest continuous combat in United States history, fought with an all-volunteer military. Our military and veterans need our support, and many organizations are already making superb efforts, which can inspire others to articulate and post their initiatives on their own websites. Together, all corporations, non-profits, and government organizations can make a big impact in the support of veterans who have sacrificed so much in support of our great country.
