Kurt was born and raised in State College, Pennsylvania. After high school, he attended Penn State University working towards a degree in criminology until he enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1999. With kids grown up, Kurt returned to the field of aviation in 2017 as an airline pilot and then as an instructor.

Kurt joined Thayer Leadership in the fall of 2019, originally serving as a part-time Observer Controller before being hired full time as a Product Developer, putting to use his graphic design education. Kurt now serves as an Experiential and Special Projects Coordinator focusing on digital experiences and technology improvements.

Their daughter Micaela recently graduated from Penn State University and is seeking work in human resources. In his free time, Kurt enjoys games, cooking for friends, and participating in triathlons.
