Dan Rice is a West Point graduate, a co-founder and President of Thayer Leadership, a Principal of the Historic Thayer Hotel, and the creator and co-author of the award winning book “West Point Leadership: Profiles of Courage”.  

He is an experienced senior executive with financial and marketing experience across multiple industries and has co-founded several entrepreneurial companies. He speaks regularly about leadership and national security issues and has appeared on FOX News, CNN, TODAY SHOW, Bloomberg TV, MSNBC, FOX & Friends, and has been published in the Wall Street Journal, Small Wars Journal and Chief Executive magazine. 

Dan concentrated in National Security studies at West Point, holds an Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University, an Masters in Integrated Marketing from Northwestern University and an MSeD from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education Chief Learning Officer program. His thesis from Penn was “Understanding the relationship between Leader’s Intent and Subordinate’s Intentions”.    He is currently pursuing a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Chief Learning Officer program and is writing his dissertation.  

After graduating from West Point, Dan served in Eastern Turkey and in Fort Carson, Colorado.  In 2004 he voluntarily rejoined the Army after over a decade out of uniform and deployed to Iraq as an Infantry officer based in Tikrit for one year leading Civil Affairs projects for half of the Sunni Triangle.  In 2008 he served on the Congressionally funded “Project for National Security Reform”. He has been awarded the Purple Heart, Ranger Tab, Combat Action Badge, Airborne Badge and four literary awards:  three Benjamin Franklin Awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and one from the Military Writers Society of America.  

Dan has been a lifelong supporter of veterans causes and protecting endangered animals. He is a board member of Children of the Fallen Patriots and helped create the Patriots In Business Awards.  He served for ten years as the Treasurer of WildAid an entrepreneurial non-profit that protects endangered species by reducing the demand through creative advertising.
